Behind the trillion dollar billboard
Conceptualised and created by TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris, these billboards and posters for The Zimbabwean newspaper were made entirely of worthless Zimbabwean bank notes. The billboard is made up of trillions and trillions and trillions worth of Zim dollar notes, which worked out to be cheaper than using paper.

Chicken Licken Singing Burger
This ad opens on two “slackers” in a car outside a Chicken Licken, they have just bought meals. On opening the burger box one of the guys discovers that his burger is singing “Love me Tender”. The other guy then exclaims that they are going to be rich and the ad cuts to a montage …
Fruit getting fresh, cheeky veg…
Over the next couple of days MarkLives will be featuring the work of Alistair Palmer. His work revolves around design and art. Identity & advertising for a food market at 44 Stanley Rd in Joburg. “The idea behind the logo was to have a clear identity but the actual logo could change according to seasons or what was being communicated. The posters brought the produce to life, they (the produce) told jokes and teased each other a little.”

Stamps for Chesterfield
These stamps appeared on Chesterfield Limited Edition packs. The campaign was conceptionalised by agency Y&R. The brief to illustrators Am I Collective tasked them to “visually interpret a personal journey of discovery in your own style.”
Packaging made from nature
To get consumers to view Consol as a brand that does good things for the environment and for people too agency MGM Brand Construction & Advertising came up with this campaign that creates a visual comparison between glass packaging and nature’s packaging (such as banana peels and carrot skins).
Plax gets a laugh
This ad for Plax mouth wash by agency Y&R uses imagery of a shooting squad to create immediate impact, and at closer view the consumer discovers the guy in line who has been gagged because of his bad breath rather than being blindfolded.
Ultra Mel ad layers photography
Ultra Mel custard is delicious whichever way you look at it. Agency Y&R took photographs of three beautiful girls and desaturated the pictures. It then made an A1 print of each and rephotographed the print in colour with a drop of Ultra Mel custard strategically placed on each print.
