The team at emarketing agency Quirk is so busy two years after moving into their offices they haven’t had time to finish off interiors properly. So busy in fact they have grown from 60 to 150 people in the past twelve months and will probably just fall short of doubling their R50 million in 2010 revenue over the next financial year.

The Creative Process Illustrated – on YouTube
The Art Directors Club and YouTube announced the launch of “The Creative Process Illustrated – on YouTube”, a new series of documentary video shorts in which top agency creatives and marketers provide a rare behind-the-scenes look at how great online work is made.
Top creatives including BBH New York’s Kevin Roddy, Barbarian Group’s Benjamin Palmer, W+K’s Old Spice team of Eric Kallman and Craig Allen, and Dynomighty Designs’ Terrence Kelleman have been interviewed in a behind-the scenes look at creative development in the digital age. The film shorts will premiere on September 28. After the premiere, the films will posted on YouTube Show & Tell.

SA gamers punk’d by new broadband provider
The truth is out – the debate that has been raging across the South African gaming community (see below) about who are better gamers – boys or girls – was in fact a marketing campaign planted by new IS broadband provider PLuGG. PLuGG targeted the gaming community as a core niche in its customer base. It planted posts on gaming forums and blogs, and even put out YouTube videos supporting one side or the other, with the help of agency Hello World. PLuGG conceived the campaign to conclude around a first-of-its-kind Girls vs. Guys Game-Off event that was held at the end of 2008.

The SABC was left blushing after a chair broke during a live broadcast on SABC 2. The Chairperson of the Finance Portfolio Committee tumbled to the ground during the interview. The video is doing the rounds on YouTube under the title “Taking the Chair out of Chairperson.” Poor man.
