I loved this advert for Czech Rugby.

‘Bring me my machine gun’ and other favourites down under
MarkLives recently featured a couple of ads by ad agency FoxP2 that originally ran in 2008 to promote the use of dairy yet still remains eerily relevant (they ‘feature’ both Malema and Mugabe). Here are three more ads, from the same agency but this time for Frisco, that could as well have been made today. One features the prez singing Julius’s favourite song, another feature that word favoured by the ruling party to tar any opposition with and the third celebrates the national treasure we have in Eskom.
Buddy kry ‘n tjommie
Buddy – Toyota South Africa’s badly done special effects spokesdog – just got a tjommie. It’s ChiChi the Chihuahua to whom being fearless doesn’t come naturally. The ad was created by Draftfcb Johannesburg for the launch of the Toyota Auris X range. Will ChiChi eclipse Buddy? Only time will tell…
Humorous ads featuring Malema, Mugabe even more relevant today
This set of ads were created by ad agency FoxP2 in 2008 to promote use of dairy (an initiative by Milk SA of course) remains remarkably relevant today. Featuring the Malema & Mugabe families the ads call on consumers to rediscover the natural goodness of diary and youth (before the ANCYL hijacked that word to mean 30-somethings). Malema recently visited Mugabe as part of his drive to study the effects of “nationalisation.” The third ad features Benni McCarthy who has made a habit out of being unavailable for Bafana Bafana.
Majut and Sons from #kulula to #FIFA
On April 1st, Kulula.com and its agency King James took yet another dig at FIFA by creating a fictitious law firm called Majut and Sons and notifying FIFA and the media of its application to trademark the Sky™, and potential problems this posed for anyone daring to transgress it. Here is the brochure created by King James.
Low prices and no lawyers please dot com
Kulula.com as agency King James has created a battery of 5 second, tongue in cheek, stings sung in the style of the budget airlines’ iconic audio mnemonic, further reminded consumers of the spat between Kulula.com and FIFA.
The first bladder friendly film festival
Alfred Hitchcock said: “The length of a film should be directly related to
the endurance of the human bladder.” This quote was the inspiration for the
last campaign for MECAL – the Barcelona Short Film Festival. From now on, the first bladder friendly film festival.

MK Bruce Lee preview
A sneak preview of the MK Bruce Lee issue to be launched at the Toffie pop culture festival from 26 – 28 March. This issue was edited by Francois van Coke and is the guitar tabs issue. The guitar tabs were transcribed by Richard Brokensha from the bands Isochronous and Kidofdoom.
Kulula answers FIFA with new ad
Kulula ad agency King James chose to respond to FIFAs’ legal threats with another tongue-in-cheek ad that is running in the Sunday papers today.
The ad looks similar to the original that caused FIFA and its lawyers to lose their sense of humour over the use of, amongst other things, the national flag, footballs and vuvuzelas in, gulp, combination.
