#Top40TVratings: Commonwealth Games pique SA’s interest

SAARF/MarkLives #Top40TVratings: #WorldCup ratings drop-off continues
by SAARF & MarkLives (@marklives) The World Cup ratings drop-off continues this week on our national TV ratings chart for the week of June 30–July 6. The first week of the 2014 FIFA World Cup nabbed five of the Top 10 slots on SAARF/MarkLives #Top40TVratings national chart but this declined to only one Top 10 spot the following week, for the game between Brazil and Chile, and only five of the top 20 slots. This time, we have one Top 10 spot (Argentina vs Switzerland) and four games have made it into our Top 20.
SAARF/MarkLives #Top40TVratings: Bored with the World Cup already?
by SAARF & MarkLives (@marklives) Last week, the 2014 FIFA World Cup nabbed five of the Top 10 slots on SAARF/MarkLives #Top40TVratings national chart but our data this week (23-29 June 2014) shows it only managed to grab one Top 10 spot, for the game between Brazil and Chile, and it took only five of the top 20 slots. On the DStv chart, no FIFA games made the Top 10.

by SAARF & MarkLives (@marklives) It’s a goaaaaaal as the 2014 FIFA World Cup launches into five of the Top 10 slots on SAARF/MarkLives #Top40TVratings national chart during during the week of 16–22 June 2014. It also took up nine of the top 20 slots. The State of the Nation address came in at number 16. On the DStv, chart SONA came in at no. 6 and no FIFA games made the Top 10.

SAARF/MarkLives #Top40TVratings: Drama rules supreme, despite elections
by SAARF & MarkLives (@marklives) Surprisingly (or not, depending upon your level of cynicism), drama and not election news appeared to rule most of the Top 10 during the week of 5 — 11 May 2014, our SAARF/MarkLives #Top40TVratings national chart shows, although SABC 1’s Zulu News did climb from the 14th to the eighth spot, and SABC 1’s Xhosa News went from tenth to ninth.
SAARF/MarkLives #Top40TVratings: the Zaziwa bounce
by SAARF & MarkLives (@marklives) The week of 14 April — 20 April 2014 saw SABC 1 music talk show Zaziwa bounce from 11th to 6th place, the SAARF/MarkLives #Top40TVratings national chart shows. Interestingly, the bounce was not replicated on the DStv chart where the show only climbed one spot — from 21st to 20th. Selimathunzi jumped from no. 18 into the no. 9 slot.
SAARF/MarkLives #Top40TVratings: SABC 1 scores with Nedbank Cup
by SAARF & MarkLives (@marklives) The week of 7 April — 13 April 2014 saw SABC 1 score with with the broadcast of various Nedbank Cup soccer games, the SAARF/MarkLives #Top40TVratings chart shows, especially on DStv where four games made it into our Top 40. The Mamelodi Sundowns vs Orlando Pirates (Pirates won 2-1) game also made it into the Top 20 on our national chart.
Grubstreet – latest AMPS stats out
by Gill Moodie. The release of the Amps figures for 2013 shows a picture of general stability for media. There was no significant change in any individual newspaper while the same was true for most magazine titles (Drum, Bona and Kuier were all up). TV was similarly stable while both DStv and community TV (particularly Soweto TV, Bay TV and 1KZNTV) were up significantly.
