by Ad Feature. As 2015 drew to a close, Andy Rice was joined once again by Sizakele Marutlulle and Jacob Moshokoa to decide the overall Hero & Zero, and by FCB Joburg MD, Thabang Skwambane, and Retroviral’s Mike Sharman to reflect upon the business year that was — and client/agency relationships!

For the Wall of Fame or Shame

Marutlulle’s overall Hero for 2015 went to agency Chemistry in Dublin, Ireland, for its print ad in the Irish Examiner, following the passing away of All Black rugby legend, Jonah Lomu. Her Zero? Baby Soft’s “Love your Bum” TVC.

For Moshokoa, his Zero was also Marutlulle’s choice; clearly, Baby Soft didn’t impress at all. For him, the overall Hero for 2015 was undisputed — the DC Shoes surfing-motorbike epic stunt, “Pipe Dreams”, featuring rider Robbie Maddison.

Rice’s Zero went to a movie poster-like print ad for the Gauteng Legislature, featuring premier David Makhura and his executive. He awarded his Hero for 2015 to Coca-Cola for its Ramadan “#DroptheLabels” campaign by agency, FP7 Dubai.

Enjoy the show!
