#10. Charl Bassil wants agency partners, not suppliers
In 1994, Pernod Ricard South Africa was a one-brand business. Part of the French-based Pernod Ricard Group, it was responsible for managing and distributing Jameson in the country. It has since expanded its market presence to include premium whiskey, vodka, champagne, rum and tequila brand ranges, says Charl Bassil, marketing director at Pernod Ricard SA.

Nunu Ntshingila-Njeke became the new head of Africa at Facebook, officially joining the Facebook team in early September 2015. She had previously announced her intention to resign as the chairperson of Ogilvy & Mather (O&M) South Africa. The news came as Facebook announced the opening of it first sales office in Africa, located in Johannesburg.

Fischer says he has no idea how the Big 4 justify their costs and business practices and, increasingly, consumers don’t either. Capitec wants to change banking “like Kulula.com changed the airline market” says Fischer. That is, it wants to bring about fundamental change to this market.
