by Ad Feature. Another positively glowing ad showcase — three Heroes! Featuring BMW USA, Spar and Emirates Airline, as well as Utopia’s Carl Cardinelli on its pro-bono campaign for Birdlife SA for International Vulture Awareness Day (which saw the introduction of a brand new bird species!).

For the Wall of Fame or Shame:

  • Sizakele Marutlulle gives the nod to a piece of international work… Emirates Airline gets her “Shero” this week for its recent sponsorship stunt at a match for Lisbon-based football side, Benfica. Its on-field safety demonstration drew massive applause from an appreciative crowd!
  • Andy Rice awards a Hero to Spar for its latest feelgood “loadshedding” TV ad, and
  • After failing to get Marutlulle and Rice to allow his chosen ad SuperHero status (because it’s not a South African ad), Jacob Moshokoa settles on Hero for the BMW USA TVC reinforcing the car marque’s sponsorship of the US Olympic and Paralympic teams heading to Rio next year.

Enjoy the show!
