Last week our focus was on fashion start-ups and today we’re bringing you some of the coolest start-ups and projects in the art world. We also chat to Nick Ferguson, partners with Barry and Jody who are behind some of Cape Town’s most interesting rejuvenation projects. Lastly, we are incredibly excited to see the roll out of the 21 Icons project from photographer and filmmaker Adrian Steirn. His first portrait is of Nelson Mandela and if it’s anything to go by, the next 20 icons will be just as captivating.

The 21 ICONS South Africa series launched yesterday featuring the man who inspired the entire project, Nelson Mandela. 21 ICONS is a series of iconic, black and white portraits and short films by pre-eminent photographer and filmmaker Adrian Steirn and production team Gingko Agency. The conceptual portraits and personal short films each feature a remarkable South African icon who has devoted their life to struggle for the greater good of mankind.

SCOUT: An Exhibition by Driehoek
Driehoek is an illustration collective by Pretoria-based art and design duo Megan Bird and Lizaan Visser. Their second exhibition and first of 2013, SCOUT, opens at Wolves this Friday.
As the title suggests, the exhibition is themed around exploration, adventure and good-old fashioned scouting.
