by MarkLives (@marklives) Publicis Groupe has won the account for the second tranche of Distell brands, with Miles Murphy, Publicis Groupe Africa chief operating officer, to head up the team working with Distell. As integrated communications partner, the group will manage all aspects of the marketing mix, including advertising, digital, social, PR, media and activations for Bernini, Extreme, Count Pushkin, Gordon’s, JC Le Roux, Klipdrift, Olof Bergh, Richelieu and Three Ships.
“Elite team of specialists”
Says Murphy, “We can’t wait to get working with the Distell team to turbo charge this group of brands. We have pulled together an elite team of specialists from all marketing disciplines within our Groupe, including experts from Saatchi & Saatchi (advertising and marketing), Digitas Liquorice (digital and social), MSL (public relations), Starcom (media) and The Creative Counsel (activations and route to market). The team will work in an integrated manner driving world-class marketing, innovation and efficiencies for Distell.”
“We are thrilled with this appointment,” says John Dixon, Publicis Groupe Africa CEO. “Distell has taken a bold move to consolidate this group of exciting South African brands into a single agency partnership with Publicis.”
Comments Donovan Hegland, Distell global marketing director, “Having got to know the Publicis team and their offering during the pitch process, we are very keen to have them on board to look after this batch of iconic brands and look forward to a fruitful relationship.”
This announcement follows the February 2019 news that Distell had consolidated its account and appointed a new bespoke WPP agency, Team Liquid, to handle the first tranche of brands: Savanna, Hunter’s, Amarula, Viceroy, Bain’s, Scottish Leader and Hunter’s Edge.
