Bok babies
Utopia’s packaging design for Frazer Parum’s bok fragrance, a storybook container that offers a little magic all of its own, will be featured in the Lürzer’s Archive 200 Best Packaging Design 17/18 publication, which features advertising campaigns for print and TV from around the world.
A first scent for babies and the nursery, “Bok” is both a diminutive of springbok and a term of endearment for children.
According to Utopia creative director, Carl Cardinelli, the idea was to give the iconic and beloved children’s favourite first toy — the rocking horse — a local refresh, creating a link between the fragrance and the nursery with the use of the rocking bok.
Tamara Isles, James Atkins and Sean Creighton are the designers behind the novel packaging that features a curved base, mimicking that of a rocking horse, so that, when it’s gently pushed, it rocks back and forth.
Simple, surprising and visually striking. What packaging is all about.
