Living Life
Premium cognac brand, Rémy Martin, in partnership with Saatchi & Saatchi BrandsRock, has launched part two of its “One Life. Live Them” campaign featuring two local faces: Madoda Khuzwayo and Sylvester Chauke.
Says Phil Voget, Rémy Martin marketing manager, “The campaign aims to encourage people to live their lives to the fullest. This year we want to inspire people to be more than just the name on their business cards.”
Khuzwayo and Chauke were selected because of their range of experiences and accomplishments. The former is an inventor, businessman, educator and technologist, as well as an avid traveller and foodie, while the latter is a marketer, entrepreneur, dancer, thinker and dreamer.
Developed by the ad agency, Saatchi & Saatchi Brandsrock creative director Mike Beukes says, “We have chosen two very interesting and diverse men to feature this year. Rémy Martin will also be bringing several different exciting experiences to life with a number of events held around South Africa for fans of the brand to experience.”
Photographer Sacha Waldman created the images that launch this month for the summer season.

Mushrooms on the menu
As the global movement towards a healthier eating lifestyle gains greater awareness and momentum, Denny, one of SA’s largest producers and suppliers of fresh mushrooms, has launched the country’s first mushroom burger.
According to Vanessa Sew Chung Hong, Denny marketing manager, “burgers are a massive trend in South Africa and internationally and the craze for healthier burger options is at an all-time high. To meet the demand for healthy burgers that don’t compromise on taste, we’ve combined the best of both worlds. We’ve created mouth-watering mushroom burgers for those seeking a great, healthy and nutritious alternative”.
These non-meat burgers suit both vegans and meat eaters looking for a healthy alternative to ordinary burgers. Made with fresh mushrooms and onions, the burgers are available in original and crumbed.
Chung Hong says the burgers contain no GMO ingredients, no added MSG of preservatives and no soya: “Mushrooms are low in energy, virtually free from fat, but at the same time contain considerable amounts of protein, dietary fibre, vitamins and minerals.”
The burgers are on shelf from this month in all major retailers.

Curated clothing
Recognising that online sales are the future for retailers, Wearels.co.za has launched as SAs new one-stop shop for local artisan clothing, accessories and décor.
To compete with the likes of Superbalist and Hello Pretty, South Africa’s rising online retailers, founder Elsabe Lemmer tries to steer clear of choosing commercial products, instead offering unique brands to maintain an ethos of quality over quantity: “Selling online is the future. If a customer cannot view your brand online, you will be losing out on the opportunity to grow your business to its fullest potential.”
From the signature headwear of Simon and Mary to the unexpected Marethcolleen range or even natural cow hides, every brand on Wearels.co.za represents a collaboration of entrepreneurial artists and designers.
Lemmer says the site endeavours to offer a carefully curated selection of brands that provide a range of art and objects to reflect the various values, individual perspectives and styles of South Africans.
