by Mandy & Jon (@mandyldewaal) Comedian, writer, actress and singing sensation, Jane Lynch, could sell us anything. Did you see her in Glee? Better yet, did you see her in Christopher Guest’s improv comedy flick, Best in Show? [Guest, of course, is the genius behind that spoof rockumentary cult classic This Is Spinal Tap.]

Now, Lynch has been doing a little commercial movie making of her own, and the result is a series of whacky, eclectic and laugh-out-loud funny spots for Vita Coco Coconut Water.

The star of Showtime’s TV series, The L Word, Lynch wrote, directed and acted in the commercials, which AdFreak describes as “pleasantly goofy”.

There are four ads in the series on Vita Coco Coconut Water’s channel on YouTube, plus a few bonus videos. And believe us when we tell you that the blooper reel is an absurd, riotous laugh. But before we get there, let’s look at one of the ads, shall we?

Cue Lynch in an over-the-top island-style getup hanging from a vine. She grunts [hanging from a vine is hard work, you know], and swings into view before ‘goofily’ disembarking from said vine. Then she declares: “Time was that if you wanted to sip fresh coconut water, well, you had to become pretty handy with a machete.”

Lynch grabs a straw from her cleavage, has a big sip, and then says: “But Eduardo here can’t be with me 24/7.”

And then we get to the crazy stuff. Lynch trying to get hoards of massive green coconuts through an airport without causing (hilarious) chaos. Thank goodness Eduardo’s on hand at said airport to throw a sippy-box of Vita Coco Coconut Water before everything comes undone.

All the mirthful mayhem in this commercial is resolved with Lynch saying: “Let Vita Coco do the heavy lifting for you. I’ve got important showbiz things to do and big Hollywood muckety-mucks to meet.” She then takes a sip of her coconut water. “Mmmmmm,” she goes, with a self-satisfied smile: “I guess I won’t be needing these anymore.”

With that, Lynch flicks open the catch on the suitcase she’s been hauling around the airport, releasing the giant green coconuts she’s been dragging around. You know what comes next of course, as the coconuts bounce and roll across the floor, now don’t you? Another barrel of laughs.

Well done to Vita Coco for giving Lynch the reins, and to Lynch for making magic.

Mmmmm — damn, that coconut water tastes even better now that I’ve watched that ad.
