The Portland Mercury, 2 January 2013
For their first issue of 2013 The Portland Mercury created an interactive cover. I first thought it was in support of Pussy Riot… But they gave readers the chance to cut out their own ‘Winter Mask’, and ran a competition inviting readers to send in their pictures of how they made use of it. I love it when covers interact with its readers! And here are some of the entries, and the winner.

Very unique, pretty, relevant to the theme and magazine, and just plain smart! If you haven’t seen how a magazine is printed, you can view this little video which shows the printing of this specific issue. Visiting a printing press is something every magazine lover should do at some stage!

House and Leisure Food, 2013
At last! The 3rd annual House and Leisure Food issue! And it’s a beautiful blue cover with a ‘mash’ of green. A cover that’s simple, and states exactly what you get.
