Condé Nast Traveler, June/July 2016

I hope you’re able to hit the long and winding road, and drive into the sunset today, and go somewhere idyllic for the weekend… Eish, this cover makes me jealous of this guy and his surfboard!
Fast Company (South Africa), June 2016

Going all Andy Warhol on us is the latest issue of Fast Company South Africa. In this bumper edition, it’s featuring “The Most Creative People in Business” and the list not only includes 50 people from across the world, but also 30 local South Africans! Can’t wait to get my hands on this special one!
Sandton Active, June 2016

Published by International Publishing house Extrordinair Group, it’s published its Design Issue in more than 14 countries — one of them being in South Africa, titled Sandton Active. The design theme of these issues is inspired by the Dior 5th Avenue Boutique in New York. Fancy!
TECH, July 2016

Double deliciousness on the latest cover of TECH, which is published for TFG members and covers anything, and everything, for technophiles. I think it’s done a really awesome job with the photoshop, styling and end result of this cover, featuring the Locnville twins, Brian and Andrew!

Time Out New York, 8 June 2016

You can’t really get the full effect by looking at the digital cover on your screen, but pictures taken of the actual printed version shows the true detail much better. In the Instagram picture below, look closely at the detail of all those lines!

How can you walk past the magazine isles and NOT want to pick up this beauty!? The gold-finishing complements the sunset picture perfectly, and the overall cover just screams African Decadence…
I was looking at the prices of a lot of other (much-thinner) magazines the other day, and most of their prices are touching the R50 price mark. At R50 and one of the thickest SA magazines on the market, VISI is really great value, and this issue is a great read!
MagLove by @MediaSlut is a regular slot featuring the best local and international magazine covers every week, recognising well thought-out, powerful and interesting (and hopefully all three-in-one) covers and celebrating the mix of pragmatism, creativity and personal taste that created each of them. The anonymous (for now) blogger behind MediaSlut knows way too much for his own good about media in South Africa, magazines in particular. His mission is to show when SA magazines fail but, most importantly, also when they succeed. If you’re looking for a library about SA magazines and news, this is your one-stop pitstop.
