Ogilvy JHB hopes to avoid staff losses
by Herman Manson (@marklives) Ogilvy & Mather Johannesburg will try to avoid staff losses, says managing director Julian Ribeiro, in the face of the loss of the Cell C account. Cell C on Friday, 17 January 2014, announced it was moving its business to Draftfcb.
“Realistically, it’s too early to say,” says Ribeiro about possible job losses at the agency. “It’s a sizeable account, but we are hoping that recent new business wins in the group, as well as current vacancies, mean that we will be able to minimsze or avoid potential losses.
“We have built fantastic momentum in the agency. We want to focus on maintaining that momentum and positive outlook,” says Ribeiro. “We are fortunate that some very strong business fundamentals, as well as some recent new business successes in the Ogilvy group, will possibly offset the impact of this loss.”
