Metropolitan moves on from Ogilvy
Following a four-way pitch, Black River FC has been awarded the ATL and creative account for Metropolitan, which was previously held by Ogilvy. Metropolitan, a division of the JSE-listed financial services group MMI Holdings, is a financial services company with a legacy of 114 years.
Ogilvy did not participate in the four-way pitch for the Metropolitan account. The contract between Ogilvy and Metropolitan concluded in Q1 2017 and the final work flighted mid-2017.*
“Sometimes you just know, whether intuition or serendipity,” says Llewellyn Allen, Metropolitan divisional chief marketing officer. “Choosing Black River FC was one of those moments. We’re on a mission to put Metropolitan back into the minds and hearts of the people of this great country, and Black River FC brought the magic we were looking for in a partner.”
“It’s an exciting time for the agency and we look forward to working with the Metropolitan team in driving brand and business performance,” says Trevor Ndhlovu, who was recently appointed MD of Black River FC. “It’s about more than accolades and award-winning stuff; we want to win the hearts of South Africans through the Metropolitan’s brand promise. The brand’s payoff line, ‘Together we can’, inspires a sense of responsibility and will remain our collective north-star.”
