Change of ownership at Penquin
Full service agency, Penquin, has announced several changes to its senior management structure, as well as a change of ownership. Veronica Wainstein has been appointed managing director and has acquired a majority shareholding in the company. Co-founder Grant Leishman will take on a non-executive role while pursuing interests in the US, and co-founder Darren Leishman takes on the CEO role of sister company, Spitfire Inbound Marketing.
“Penquin has always believed in owner-managed businesses and particularly independent agencies such as ours,” says Leishman. “Veronica has worked with us for the past nine years and we’re absolutely thrilled how she’s moved through the ranks into the role of MD so seamlessly and with the backing of the team and our clients.”
Wainstein has acquired the majority of Penquin shares, with the remainder being split between Grant, Darren and five key staff members.
“We’re in an extremely exciting growth phase for both companies and I’m excited to see what the next few years hold,” says Wainstein. “Since Penquin was founded in 2000, we have always prided ourselves on providing more than is expected, through constant innovation and an intrinsic understanding of our clients’ needs.”
