99c appoints TTL creative head
Ninety9cents (99c) Cape Town has appointed Dane Alexander as creative director of the ad agency’s TTL portfolio, reporting to Marius van Rensburg, 99 chief creative officer.
Shortly after graduating from AAA School of Advertising in 2007, Alexander landed his first job at 99c as a junior art director. Over the next four years, he proceeded to climb the ranks there, eventually becoming senior art director. In 2012, he left the agency to join the MullenLowe Group before moving to New York City, where he became associate creative director at McGarryBowen, working on blue-chip accounts such as United Airlines, JC Penny and Subway. After almost three years in New York, he has returned to South Africa in 2019 to rejoin 99c.
“It is great to see how the landscape has and continues to evolve in exciting and dynamic ways,” says Alexander. “I’m happy to be ‘home’, creating work that achieves our clients’ business objectives, as well as campaigns which our industry peers’ respect.”
