2020 Night of a Thousand Drawings grows to three days
Night of a Thousand Drawings, the non-profit, inner city, A5 art exhibition event, will take place 27–29 March 2020 at Victoria Yards, Lorentzville, Johannesburg. This year, the event will go from an evening affair to a three-day festival of art, including the A5 art exhibition, an art auction and a fashion show with well-known designers such as Clive Rundle, Her Ritual, Klippa and Sies!Isabelle.
2020 also sees the launch of ArtBattle, a global art-event that involves live painting, music, and on-the-spot curatorship until, ultimately, one artist is ‘left standing’. Artists include Ryan Shava and Jessica Michelle le Roux.
“We have seen over the last 13 years that we can only make this happen with the help of the community,” says Kelly McGillavray, theSquad Creative Events MD. “There is an incredible collective of people [who] touch this project from the beginning of the campaign to the final event, where all the months of hard work are displayed, ready to make a difference, from the nurseryschool kids’ handprints to the exceptional artist [who] donate their time and creativity to help. It all makes a difference.”
A5 art donated by professional artists plus new young talent may be picked up at the event for R150. The art sale will be held on Saturday, 5pm–6pm, with viewings of the art from Friday.
